TAGILARAN CITY – Politicos and their cohorts started to crackle this early considering that October 31, 2015 is the last day of filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) despite it’s still one year and 20 days prior to presidential polls on May next year. Senior provincial Board Member Dionisio D. Balite, who owns and manages an empire of school institutions in Bohol with branches in other places, is eyeing to throw his hat in the vice-gubernatorial race, a Capitol reliable source said but refused to be named.
If this happens, the source, who was told by Balite himself, said the senior BM will face incumbent Vice-Gov. Concepcion O. Lim, who is reportedly vowed to complete her three-year term until 2019.
Reports that Lim would go back to become mayor again for the nth time in her hometown, Valencia, also the hometown of Balite, is not true, the source said.
There would be a three-cornered derby for vice-gubernatorial race come 2016 if out-going Loay lady Mayor Rosemarie “May” Lim-Imboy pushes her plan to be the next vice-governor of Bohol.
Except for Conching Lim, Balite and Imboy are both governor-less yet.
The report said that Balite has not yet divulge his governor bet to whom he would like to be in tandem with, the source said.
The source added that Balite is not sure yet if former lady Carmen mayor Conchita “Che”Toribio delos Reyes would try it again for governor after her defeat in 2013 mid-term elections.
But if ever Delos Reyes made up her mind, still Balite would make some special arrangement with the latter, the source said.
Delos Reyes has become unpredictable still, another source said. She did not yet reveal what position to run for during the last media encounter with her. She just candid to respond time will come soon and “you’ll know,” she told the media.
Her would-be opponents are reportedly in guessing game. If she decides for the third district, where Carmen town belongs, incumbent congressman would have a headache considering the resources of Delos Reyes, the source said.
The same source said that Delos Reyes may be prevailed upon to run for governor again considering the beleaguered Vice-President Jojo Binay is set for president of the country. Delos Reyes is aligned with Binay’s UNA party.
For hert part, the last-termer Loay mayor May Lim-Imboy appeared ready to slug it out in the vice-gubernatorial race in 2016, she told DYTR recently.
But she did not hide her preference to be with incumbent governor. But she admitted that she’s facing an uphill battle against Conching Lim when time comes.
And besides, she cannot be sure if the governor wants her as his running-mate if ever Conching Lim would slide back to her town, she said. (rvo)
