TAGBILARAN CITY – Another man was shot to death the other night while heading for home by unknown armed perpetrators, police report disclosed. “Initial investigation conducted at the area revealed that victim identified as one PIO John Aceron, 26 years old, single resident of Visarra st., Poblacion II, Tagbilaran City. While on his way home walking along M. Torralba St. Upon reaching thereat suddenly shot to death by unidentified gunman,” police report said.
The murder victim’s lifeless body while “lying beside the road bathing his own blood flowing to the ground from his head” sustained three gunshot wounds at the right side of his head as point of entry and right side of this neck and right shoulder, the report said.
Dr. Albert Calvelo of the city health office said that cause death was the gunshot wounds.
Police learned of the murder following a telephone call recived by city police station at past 12:30 am yesterday. PCInsp George Vale, city police chief, immediately dispatched his team along with PSInps Quirino Geolagon, criminal investigator SP01 Agosto Cesario L. Sumaylo, the quick response team personnel of this police office to check the veracity of the report.
Personnel of the provincial crime laboratory led by PInsp Abregana recovered three empty slugs of fired cartridge cases of .9mm. Also found from the victim were 2 pieces transparent cellophane sachet containing suspected shabu granules placed inside the empty match found at the right pocket, and cash amounting to Php101.50.
Police are still conducting investigation on the motive and the identities of the assailants.
It will be recalled that a certain Geenave “Janjan” Ociones Lopez was shot to death and died due to fatal gunshot wounds on his head.
A deadly shooting incident what police believed to be illegal drug-related killing took place a week before the annual fiesta celebration of this capital city on May first. Police identified the victim as one Mark Anthony Itac de Guzman, 44, single and resident of purok 4A, barangay Tiptip, this city, adding that the victim sustained several gunshots on his bloodied body while sitting on a chair.

The former city councilor’s son, identified as Oscar Glovasa was also gunned down for unknown motive, police said.
A suspect of snatching, identified as one Arnold Espinoza, 22, of Cebu was shot to death by “riding in tandem.” Police believe that illegal drugs dealers are fighting each other, including those who fail to remit the drug money, city police chief PCInsp. Geroge Vale once said.
A certain Giovanni Cuizon, who was believed as a close associate of then dismissed police officer the late Owen Rosales, was killed. Rosales was believed to have hatched to kill former police chief of Ubay, George Caña.
Prior to Cuizon’s death, a certain Ritchie Campanilla, resident of barangay Dao here and Edwin alias “Awing” Tare, also of barangay Dao, were likewise victims of killing.
Another drug-related murder was that of Aliwayway Solis, a manager of one of the videoke bar in this city. She was shot in broad daylight and died at corner Palma street and CPG avenue.
The same fate befell to “Tambok” Verula, who was shot by “riding in tandem” not far the city bus terminal, where the former publisher of defunct Bantay Balita Antonio Silagon was also shot to death. (rvo)
