Two dead, 9 others injured in grenade blast TRINIDAD,Bohol Two were dead and nine others injured following the blast of a hand grenade thrown by the suspect identified as one Dinoberto Polestico Fuentes, 21, a resident of barangay San Vicente, of this town, about 98 kms. From capital Tagbilaran City.
The blast rocked the public market during the foundation day celebration (Sept. 1, 2014) at about 4:30 PM of this town, north of capital city, witnesses said. Dead on the spot was identified as one Nestor Bernales of legal age and said to be bystander, single and resident of Mabini, Bohol, police report said. And Fidela M. Cajes, 47, married and a vendor here, a resident of barangay Liberty of neighboring town of Bien-Unido, did not make it when she rushed to nearby Talibon provincial hospital, about 8 kms. From here.

But witness identified Lito Cuyno, 32, of this town, said otherwise. He told the FREEMAN that he saw the suspect lobbed the hand grenade to a crowded snack store near the ?okay-okay? vending in an open space of the public market.
After the suspect lobbed the said grenade, he ran but ended up being caught by some people who saw him running away from where he was, near the public comfort room building, Cuyno said. PSInps Aldrin Villacampa, police chief here, said in an interview that his office is preparing to file several charges against the suspect. But first he will file case against Fuentes for illegal drugs after police confiscated from the suspect a sachet of believed to be shabu, the police chief said. Probably, one of the serious charges facing the suspect is the illegal possession of explosives which is a non-bailable offense, he said. Other charges being eyed by the police include multiple homicide, murder and serious physical injuries as a result of grenade blast, the police chief said.
The suspect who was interviewed by the FREEMAN is now behind bars while the motive of grenade throwing was not yet fully established as the
probers are still investigating the bloody incident. (RVO)
