LOON, Bohol – Barangay chairman Ricfer Rebusa of Ubojan, Sandingan island of this town, has blamed politics on the exclusion of barangay hall from the list of projects for rehabilitation funded by the Bohol Earthquake Assistance (BEA). He said in exclusive interview that the barangay hall which was totally damaged by 2013 earthquake was already inspected by municipal officials concerned.
This prompted him and his officials to prepare the program of works (POW) and other papers and submitted them to municipal hall. Until recently, he learned that their barangay hall was delisted from BEA funding for unknown reasons.
He said that politics had something to do with the exclusion of the barangay hall rehabilitation.
Rebusa is a supporter of former vice-mayor Edwin Ladeza, who is known to be a political enemy of the Lopezes that run this town for quite sometime.
He said that probably the present administration still cannot take until now that their bets for barangay posts were defeated by his group.
He said that his opponents in this barangay, including the former punong barangay who did not make it in last barangay polls, recently had petitioned to the town hall for the barangay hall rehabilitation through signature campaign. This is to make it appear that his detractors initiated the move for the repair of the barangay hall, he said.
But the incumbent barangay officials, he said, has already prepared a Resolution urging municipal officials for the rehab of the hall, hence, no need for the said petition. (rvo)
