CORELLA, Bohol – Former Mayor Vito Rapal of this landlocked smallest town in terms of number of barangays is ready to rumble in the forthcoming presidential and local elections in May 2016.
He unofficially announced that he’ll make a comeback to regain his former post now being held by Mayor Nicanor Tocmo, his arch-rival in this town where the Tarsier natural sanctuary is located and host of water supply in Tagbilaran city and the tourist Panglao island.
He exclusively told DYTR that he would have no running-mate and initially have five hopefuls for councilor in this 5,600-voter municipality. He did not name who’ll be in his slate for councilor.
When asked who would be his candidate for governor, he just kept mum. But he said he would be running under the banner of United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) of Vice-President Jejomar Binay.
His declaration would set the stage for a one-on-one race, again, against Tocmo, whom, he said, he defeated twice already. He admitted, however, he was beaten by Tocmo but only once in past elections. (rvo)
