TAGBILARAN CITY – Crime volume has slightly increased during the period March 15-April 15, 2015 according to the report of the Bohol Provincial Police Office based in Camp Dagohoy in this city. This came following the report of police operations head PSupt Jovito Atanacio during the monthly meeting of the Peace and Order Council chaired and presided over by Gov. Edgar Chatto.
A total of 790 crimes during April, higher than 760 during March or 4% increase, police power presentation showed said. Minutes of the previous PPOC meeting dated April 29, 2015 showed the following: “For January to March 2015, a total of 2,202 crimes were recorded; For the index crime, it increased from 993 to 1,274 cases while for the non-index crimes, it also increased from 612 to 928. Comparative solved cases increased from 359 of January to March 2014 to 1,211 in January to March 2015.”
There was an increase of one percent as far as cases being solved from 392 to 394; and three percent of what police called “cleared cases” from 411 to 425 cases.
Aside from physical injury incidents — 184 in March and 173 in April — theft still topped the list with 153 and 148 cases in March and April, respectively.
Murder posted a total of 8 and 14 for March and April, respectively; homicide — 7 in March and 8 in April; rap — 8 and 11; robbery — 50 in March and 45 in April; carnap — 16 in March and 15 in April; and cattle rustling — 5 in March and 7 in April. (rvo)
