LOAY, Bohol – The camp of gubernatorial aspirant Mayor Rosemarie “May” Lim-Imboy dismissed as untrue and has no basis that the united opposition, composed of three major political parties, have parted ways, contrary to news report.
The news report appeared to be insinuating that the newly formed united opposition with Rep. Aris Aumentado, former Carmen Mayor Conchita delos Reyes and Imboy at the helm is fractured.
Imboy said that it is not true that we are divided. How come we can call our group as Bohol United Opposition (BUO) if we are divided, she argued.
She admitted that most of the united opposition are backing for United Nationalist Alliance (UNA)’s standard bearer Vice-President Jejomar Binay for president, except for senior board member Atty. Dionisio Balite, who expressly remained to back Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s presidential run.
All of the united opposition stalwarts, including Aumetnado, Delos Reyes and congressional bet Dr. Joahna Cabalit Initay, respect the stand and decision of Balite.
But Balite remains as her running-mate for vice-governor and did not leave the group of the opposition. In fact, Balite has been accompanying the opposition’s sorties in puroks and barangays, Imboy’s camp said.
Reelectionist provincial board member Freda Tirol bolstered Imboy’s claim. “At the start mga opposition lang jud mi nga nagkatibulaag but we agreed to unite the opposition to strengthen our force. Cong Aris presented his stand to support Binay, so kami pod we sacrifice for the sake of unity, dat shud be one, nikuyog mi tanan ni Cong. Aris except Sir Dioning (Balite), Tirol said in her text.
Imboy’s camp that its gubernatorial aspirant did not commit yet to PDP-Laban standard bearer since after they filed their COC’s sometime in October of last year Duterte had not decided yet until recently.
Though Balite may be supporting Duterte that doesn’t mean we are divided. Imboy said Balite remains with the united opposition. Tirol in interview confirmed this.
Bohol United Opposition got a boost with the presence of United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) secretary-general Atty. JV Bautista, who was sent here by UNA standard bearer Vice-President Jejomar Binay to lend support to the group, said a party member.
Bautista’s graced and answered questions from media during the press conference held at Metro Center Hotel in this city last week with Aumentado (2nd district, Bohol), congressional aspirant former Carmen Mayor Conchita “Che” Toribio delos Reyes, Imboy was represented by her son Jethru Imboy, congressional bet for 1st district Joahna Cabalit, UNA first district coordinator Tubigon Mayor Marlon Amila, and municipal mayors aligned with the opposition.
Delos Reyes cited as a concrete proof that the opposition is getting stronger and more and more officials are joining the bandwagon the support of mayors she got after she decided to make a congressional run. She said that she considered 12 of the 19 municipal mayors in 3rd district are already on her side plus other three or four mayors whom she did not name.
