ANDA, Bohol – Humanitarian effort is not confined to governments only. The JD Kaligayahan Foundation Inc. finds its way to help and share with others in the remote mountain barangay Lundag of this town, where natural environment is abundant. And this is what Anastacio “Jun” Daniel was talking about during the outreach and feeding program yesterday in this barangay with barangay chairman Absalon Deloy attending.
Barangay captain Deloy and his brother, Mario Deloy, the school principal of Lundag Elementary School, were very thankful to the foundation’s concern over their people. The school teachers and parents had their hands full when they received the food packs courtesy of the foundation. One of the speakers was Bro. Edcel Lacaran Closas, who is also an evangelist, writer/columnist of the Bohol News Today.
The children also were given snacks in soft drink and sphagetti and other food stuff. But the most important part of JD Foundation’s thrusts is the instilling in the minds of the young children the importance of environmental preservation and protection.
As a strong environmental activist, Daniel has been campaigning hard to preserve and protect what is left in the wilderness. He is a strong advocate of preserving the Philippine Tarsiers which are also abound in this barangay. Barangay chairman Deloy confirmed this, saying there’s a need for their preservation for the next generation to see the Tarsiers.
The campaign, he said, will not end here in this JD Foundation outreach program. Raising the awareness especially for the young is also in the environmental campaign menu. (rvo)
