MABINI, Bohol – A wind-driven believed to be bushfire has swept at least two barangays, including part of barangay Minol thar destroyed farms in an estimated 70 hectares, barangay chairperson Edgar Tumanda said.A house was also razed down due to the fire that quickly spread to other areas, he said. But none was hurt in the fire. Firefighters reportedly were trying to contain the blaze, he said. Bohol News Today was able to contact the provincial office of the Bureau of Fire Department in Tagbilaran City but only to be told that it did’t have arecord, according to Faron Matabalan last night. He said the in-charge of the report, if ever there was, was not around when called.
But it could not be ascertained what was the cause of the bushfire. Tumanda said that nobody knows yet about the origin of the fire. The past month a burning bush on the side of the mountains in nearby barangay Marcelo was spotted by the BNT.
The bushfire just came out of the blue, a resident said, adding that it may have something to do with too too much heat as a result of dry spell. (rvo)
