CORELLA, Bohol – Mayor Jose Nicanor Tocmo has bared development accomplishments in past year that his administration has been pursuing since he assumed office. He said that he’s doing this not only as a matter of policy but in the spirit of good governance and transparency. The people deserve to know, he said. Numerous projects particularly in infrastructure have been attained, he said. And he has given priority to the earthquake-affected public buildings, including the retrofitting of Poblacion barangay hall, civic center in barangay Pondol and barangay hall of Cancatac.
Since the tremor struck this town, Mayor Tocmo said that acquisition of two additional standby power generators is a top priority. He explained that these power gen-sets are very important firstly to sustain and keep water running from the pipeline to the faucets of the consumers and for preservation of the medicines at the town’s health center whenever blackout occurs.
Among the completed projects included the following:, municipal training center and material recovery facility. Constructions of legislative phase II, birthing facility, evacuation center phase I, drilling of well in barangay Tanday and pumping station and reservoir in Cancatac, new road in Isla Verde-Zaragoza, and covered courtr phase II in barangay Sambog are on-going, he said.
On the same vein, the town’s 20% development fund in the amount of Php6.3 million has been earmarked for the different projects undertaken by the municipal government. These projects involved the primary and basic public services such as waterworks development, improvement and rehabilitation of all roads in the town, executive development priorities, completion of training center, health, solid waste management program, farm development and rehabilitation of public buildings.
Upgrading of the market building, municipal nursery development and lighting facilities are also taken care of by the municipal government, Mayor Tocmo said. (rvo)
