The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has inaugurated on Oct. 16 its Bohol backbone transmission project in this town, about 11 kms north of capital Tagbilaran City. Bohol Gov. Edgar Chatto and NGCP officials led the ceremony in barangay Sambog of this town led by Mayor Jose Nicanor Tocmo and punong barangay Isabelo Daquipil along with Mr. Carmelino de Leon, NGCP?s special assistant to ACTO-planning and and Engineering and other officials of the company. Gov. Chatto along with other officials of the company and municipality cut the ceremonial ribbon during the simple ceremony.
In his message the governor said that power is one of the ingredients to development as it attracts new investments. He said the province supports the project since it provides mutual benefits to everyone and that this power facility gives us confidence. In his message, vice-president Jung Bae Kim of the Hyosung Corporation, one of the suppliers of the NGCP, said may this partnership will go on, while deputy general manager Liang Jing Chao of the China XD Corporation, hoped that the project would contribute to development for Bohol. NGCP firmed up its commitment to the continuous improvement of the existing power transmission system when it announced on Oct. 16 the completion of the project, company officials said.
It aims to accommodate load growth and address the low voltage limitations in the island province, improve the system reliability and operational flexibility and extend service to un-energized rural areas of Bohol. The company has completed the installation and construction of 92.27 circuit-kilometers of 138 kilo volt (KV) overhead transmission lines from Ubay town, about 125 kms to this town and 9 circuit KV of 69 KV transmission lines from here to Cortes town by utilizing steel tower and steel pole structures. The company is a praivately owned tasked in the operation, maintenance and developing the country?s power grid as it transmits high voltage electricity through power superhighways that included the interconnected system of transmission lines, towers, substations and related assets.
