TAGBILARAN CITY – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), said to be the main state agency to run after illegal trade of substances in the country, bared there are more drug cases than those convicted by the court. PDEA agent Chona Egam assigned here said that some nine (9) cases have been dismissed than only one convicted during the first quarter of the year. There was only one acquittal during the same period.
This she showed in her power presentation during the monthly meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) presided over by Gov. Edgar Chatto held at governor’s mansion.
A total of 83 cases filed in different courts have been accumulated during the same period, Egam said in responding to query that more cases that PDEA is attending than the number of cases filed by the police at the prosecution level.
Of the 83 drugs cases, 44 cases fall under violation of section 11 of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. Twenty-five (25) cases under section 5; 12 under section 12; and one each under sections 6 and 7 of the same law.
PDEA’s accomplishment in supply reduction include the conduct of buy-bust, 18 operations; search warrant implementation, 16; test buy, 28; surveillance, 26; and inflagrante delicto, 2.
Meanwhile, PNP accomplished 38 operations launched against illegal drugs during the month of March 2015, PSupt Jeffrey Caballes said in his power point presentation during the said PPOC meeting yesterday. There were 42 suspects arrested and 67 cases filed, he said.
There were 44 operations conducted by the police during the month of February; 53 arrested; and 74 cases filed, according to the PPOC minutes dated March 17, 2015 signed by the governor and certified by provincial director Loisella Lucilo.
A day before the PPOC meeting, city police apprehended what police say a notorious shabu pusher identified as one Macrino Clarete y Repolledo, 24, resident of sitio Katugasan, barangay Dampas in this city.
Confiscated durng the raid were six sachets of beieved to be shabu and Php500 bill. The suspect is facing illegal possession of illegal substances in violation Sec. 5 ug 11 sa RA. 9165, police said.
Also arrested while caught in pot session include Also Norlinda Clarete Karaan, of legal age, resident of the said place and alleged owner of drug lair; Garry Arano Fulloso Fulloso, Raymond Gilay Inting, 49, resident of baragay Mansasa; Billy Amparado; Ernesto Batuti Pinoliad, 39, resident of San Vicente, Baclayon; Jennis Spanillo Cadungog Spanillo and two youngsters, aged 17, residents of barangay San Isidro, this city.
Others are Zenn John Pepito Omictin Pepito, 27, resident of B. Inting street, this city, with his .38 caliber with 4 bullets. And one Zenn Eric Pepito Omictin, 26, resident of B. Inting St. this city. An improvised 9mm hand gun was confiscated from him in violation of 10591. (rvo)
