TAGBILARAN CITY – While they’re facing a blank wall, police are looking into illegal drug angle on the killing of Japee Paparon, PCInsp George Vale, police chief here, said in his text last night. Paparon, 26, single and a resident of purok 8, barangay Lourdes, Panglao town, was shot to death at almost eight the other night infront of the Bohol Light Company/Bohol Water Utilities Inc. offices, just few meters from Land Transportation Office (LTO) along Enerio street in this city.
A witness told the police that a woman came to Paparon’s lifeless body and took something from his pocket, probably including his cellphone, and rode on a motorcycle driven by unknown person and fled.
Included to be scrutinized to find out the suspect’s identity is the Closed Circuit TV mounted near the Bohol Light office, PCInsp George Vale, report said.
Meanwhile, crime volume in the province has increased during the period March 15-April 15, 2015 according to the report of the Bohol Provincial Police Office based in Camp Dagohoy in this city during the recent meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC).
Police said that murder posted a total of 8 in March and 14 in April, 2015. Other crimes were homicide — 7 in March and 8 in April; rape — 8 and 11; robbery — 50 in March and 45 in April; carnap — 16 in March and 15 in April; and cattle rustling — 5 in March and 7 in April this year.
A total of 790 crimes during April, higher than 760 during March or 4% increase, police power presentation showed said. (rvo)
