TAGBILARAN CITY – Early birds catch worms as the saying goes. Would this apply to TIEZA’s Mark Lapid and Manila’s Vice-Mayor Isko Moreno? Mark T. Lapid, the chief operating officer of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), was invited to be the guest speaker of the Bohol Sandugo street dancing showdown held at President Carlos P. Garcia sports complex yesterday. And his presence and short talk benefited Bohol, especially this city.
He told the throng that TIEZA will earmark Php60 million for the construction or completion of the Blood Compact shrine and a Galleon project located at barangay Bool, this city. In a separate float, Lapid also participated in the parade of balikbayans from around the globe, beauties of Miss Bohol, sponsors and street dance contingents and their respective officials and supporters yesterday.
As the parade was ging on, a capitol employee facilitated and handed out fans with face of Lapid and his father Senator Lito Lapid to the spectators. The fan is marked with Mark Lapid and above him “Senate of the Philippines” and the face of his father.
It could not be ascertained if he is eyeing for senator come 2016 to succeed his father who is reportedly on his last term.
Another actor-turned-politician is Manila Vice-Mayor Isko Moreno who is making round of sorties talking to people especially the vice-mayors of the towns and fans during his visit here last week.
Asked if indeed Moreno eyes for a senate seat, some municipal officials who met him did not confirm nor deny. But others have already distributed calendars in their respective turfs courtesy of the vice-mayor of Manila.
A radio commercial plugging is being aired for past days with Moreno’s voice telling Bololanos that anybody even the poor like him can be a government official to serve if supported by the people. (rvo)
