TAGBILARAN CITY – The Provincial Peace and Order Council has bared the municipalities with high crime volume during the period Jnauary-December last year during its meeting. In the first district, aside from this city with 1,064, other towns had a combined total crime volume of 1,326. The municipality of Ubay had 326; Trinidad, 116; Talibon, 87; and other towns in the second district had a total of 667 during the same period.
In the 3rd district, the town of Carmen is the highest with 137; Jagna, 99; and others 951, the report said. Other operational accomplishments of the police force during the period include illegal logging, which resulted to filing of two cases against 11 alleged violators after 29 operations conducted. There were 16 cases filed in court as a result of 72 operations conducted and arrest of 40 persons, the report said.
On illegal fishing, the police were able to file a total of 98 cases, much higher than 80 in 2013 with 322 arrested after 110 operations. There were 132 operations conducted and 486 arrested in 2013. On illegal gambling, the police filed a total of 107 cases against 161 suspects following 116 operations in 2014. These figures are lower than 193 cases filed against 294 suspects as a result of 222 operations conducted, police said.
The police arrested 97 suspects for possession of unlicensed firearms and filed 109 cases after 276 operations in 2014. These are lower than 165 arrested with 155 cases filed in 2013. (rvo)
