MARIBOJOC, Bohol – Rotary Club of Panglao Island swung into action yesterday bringing food relief to victims of flooding in barangay Busao of this town, former barangay chairman Alan Mangmang of Sungcolan, Dauis town, said. Rotary Club of Panglao Island president Karine Weismael led the distribution of relief goods to some 80 victim-families, he said. The noble act for the survivors was coordinated with Panglao Mayor Nila Montero and Vice-Mayor Pedro Fuertes and other well-meaning volunteers.
Each food pack contained 8 kilos of rice; 2 cans of sardines, 2 cans of meatloaf, 2 packs of noodles that Rotary Club of Panglao Island handed over to the victims. Weismael and Montero along with Rotary Club members personally distributed the relief goods to the victims. Rotary Club of Panglao Island has been and will always be a philantrophic private entity in humanitarian effort, not just providing biological needs, but alo raise hopes of calamity victims.
Meanwhile, Society of ex-Camillian seminarians with ABS-CBN and SALUTE eSVILUPPO, Philippines, Inc. and Camillian Task Force, Philippines also conducted relief operations in flooding-affected areas, Salvio madanguit, a member of the group, said in his text to this writer.
They have been to barangay Jimilian, Loboc town, Loreto, Cortes and Viga, Antequera, where hundreds of houses were either underwater or washed out and baragay Busao in this town, he said. The group cruised channel to Pamilacan island,
They brought with them food packs such as rice and canned goods and drinking water for the victims. The group plans to go further distribution in an island in Ubay town today, Madanguit said.
