TAGBILARAN CITY – The latest robbery victim is uncertain how much cash carted away by the suspect who barged daringly in broad daylight of his store near the City Square located at B. Inting street in this city last Sunday, city police chief PSupt. Goerge A. Vale told Bohol News Today. A certain Danny Mirchandi, of legal age, married and an Indian national, whose store Sharan Trading, said earlier that the amount of money seized from him was Php350,000 but he retracted that only Php220,000 was taken in an initial investigation.
But the building owner said otherwise. The building owner who was not identified in the police report said the money taken was more than half a million pesos. The report did not indicate why the building owner knew how much money stolen by the lone robber.
Meanwhile, police said that they have already identified a suspect based on their investigation. But the suspect’s identity was not divulged yet.
The suspect used a hammer in gaining entry as the store owner was about to close his store at past 12 noon Sunday.
The suspect, about 5’5” in height, having long hair and wearing green T-shirt and brown pants forcefully entered and “deliberately attacked him,” smashing glass showcase with the hammer, Merchandi told the police.
The suspect successfully carted away the bag containing the cash and “victim tried to stop but failed to do so for the suspect had a hammer and the suspect also able to hurt the victim using the said equipment,” police said. The suspect ran towards the hospital and some bystanders tried to chase him but to no avail.
The report said that the store owner was alone since most of her workers were off and the closed circuit TV malfunctioned when the robbery took place. (w/ Ern Pahayahay’s report)
